State, local agents shut down 35-year-old St. Cloud bar

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A bar in St. Cloud was shut down Wednesday after investigators said it had illegal gambling machines and the owners bought alcohol illegally and sold it.

State and local agents swarmed Big D’s Lounge Wednesday morning where they arrested John Davis and Candace Stevenson.

They said after receiving complaints of illegal gambling, they conducted an undercover operation.

Authorities said along with the illegal gambling, the building was in such bad shape that it needed to be condemned.

They revoked the business license and said it was unfit for human occupancy.

Some residents said they are happy to see it go.

“It’s been a menace to our community for many years,” said resident Kelly Dickerson. “The gambling part I didn’t even know about.”

Agents worked undercover for weeks leading up to the arrests of Davis and Stevenson.
