Few cheers for Howard in return to Amway Center

ORLANDO, Fla. — For the last eight seasons Magic fans have been cheering for Dwight Howard. But he didn't hear many cheers Tuesday night.

Howard said he has nothing but love for Orlando, but most fans on hand at the Amway Center weren't returning that love.

A number of fans carried signs poking fun at the man they used to know as Superman. Some even wore Dwight Coward shirts.

"It was weird man. It was weird to see Dwight, you know in a different uniform," said Magic fan Shawn Bornett.

Bornett said Howard has not made it easy for everyone to forgive him.

Howard didn't shake hands with his former teammates after the Magic beat the Lakers in Los Angeles in December.

Last week he said when he was with the Magic he was leading a team of players that nobody wanted.

Some Howard fans said it's water under the bridge.

"He came back here and he did his thing," said fan Joseph Foti.

Howard said he's not bitter. He said he's ready to move on and hopes his former fans can too.

"I think he is a traitor man. I don't like him and he is not welcome here anymore, you know?" said Bornett.

The Lakers won Tuesday night's game 106-97. Howard had a season-high 39 points in the game.
