2 Melbourne men killed in four-vehicle crash in Brevard County

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two Melbourne men are dead after a four-vehicle crash in Brevard County Wednesday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Trooper said before the crash, a deputy checked on what looked like a disabled car, but the driver took off.

Troopers said deputies did not pursue the driver, but a few minutes later the car slammed head-on into a pickup truck around 5:30 p.m. at U.S. 1 and Silver Oak Boulevard. They said that crash then caused two other cars to wreck.

Troopers said the driver of the fleeing car, identified as Peter Avner, 81, as well as the driver of the pickup truck, identified as Rabilal Nandal, 68, died in the crash.

The other two drivers were not seriously hurt.
