FHP: Pedestrian hit, killed on I-4 in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A pedestrian was hit and killed on I-4 in Polk County Friday night, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-4 near County Line Road in Lakeland.

According to troopers, the pedestrian was standing in the outside lane of the highway, for unknown reasons, before he was hit.

The pedestrian was initially struck by a semi truck driven by 48-year-old Elihu Cabrera, officials told WFTV. Two other vehicles subsequently ran over the victim, who has been identified as 26-year-old Christopher Warren of Orlando.

FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
