Fire forces evacuation of Lake Minneola High School

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Lake Minneola High School was evacuated after a fire at the school Thursday afternoon.

Lake County fire officials said they were called to the school after a fire was reported.

Officials said students and staff were evacuated to the football field.

The fire was extinguished and the state fire marshal is investigating.

A school district spokesperson said it appears that toilet paper was set on fire in a bathroom.

Some students were in the middle of mid-term exams when they were evacuated and told WFTV that they thought it was probably a prank.

"I think people need to grow up because that's so childish. Like, who would do that? It's ridiculous," said student Jaida Joyner.

School officials said there were no injuries and no serious damage.
