Firefighter, police officer injured in Daytona Beach apartment fire

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Daytona Beach firefighter, police officer and good Samaritan were injured during a house fire in Daytona Beach Sunday night, a fire department spokesperson said.

The fire broke out Sunday night at the Novawood Apartments on South Nova Road.

When fire crews got to the scene, it was an aggressive fire with 60 percent of the apartment involved, officials said.

Crews from the Daytona Beach Fire Department and the South Daytona Fire Department worked quickly to get it under control and prevent it from spreading.

Firefighters said they contained the flames to the original apartment and prevented the fire from spreading to other units.
