• Fishermen, tourists catch 600-pound mako shark

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - A group of commercial fishermen and tourists caught a 600-pound mako shark in Panama City Beach Friday night.

The 10-foot mako shark grabbed hold of the line, and it took seven men an hour-and-a-half to reel it in.

One of the tourists on the chartered boat, Douglas Harlan, said it was a trip he will not forget.

"It was pretty impressive. I couldn't believe it. It just blew my mind to land something that big. I never expected anything like that," said Harlan.

The men kept their catch and said they plan to filet the shark and give some to family and friends.
