Florida reports more than 8,500 new COVID-19 cases, statewide cases surpass 140K

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health reported more than 8,500 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, a day after the state set a record in daily case numbers.

The state reported 8,530 new COVID-19 cases and 29 coronavirus-related deaths.

The new cases bring the total in Florida up to 141,075 with 3,419 deaths.

In Central Florida, one coronavirus-related death was reported in Polk County.
