Driver sought in hit-and-run that injured two, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Four people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Orange Blossom Trail and Ginger Mill Boulevard Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators said two cars were stopped at the intersection around 3 a.m. when a third car rear-ended both cars, pushing them up to 40 feet.

When two women exited one of the vehicles, investigators said a white Honda Civic hit them and fled the scene. The women were transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert, but investigators said they expect the women to be OK.

“We have a huge epidemic in Central Florid with hit-and-runs. We continue to have people leaving the scene. It’s morally and ethically wrong,” said Lt. Kim Montes.

Law enforcement said two men were also transported to the hospital in the initial crash. Investigators said their injuries are not expected to be life threatening.

Investigators said they located the white Honda Civic that left the scene behind Walgreens after someone called in a tip to FHP.

Troopers said they have located the woman who owns the Civic, but they do not believe she was driving the car at the time of the accident.

Investigators said they're still trying to figure out who was behind the wheel and if they had permission to drive the car. They said they do have a person of interest in mind.

They also said the driver of the car that caused the initial crash is expected to face charges.
