Fruitland Park reaches $150K settlement with former city commissioner

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. — The city of Fruitland Park has reached a $150,000 settlement over a lawsuit filed by a former city commissioner.

Jim Richardson filed the lawsuit in February, claiming city officials repeatedly retaliated against him for speaking his mind while he was in office.

He claims city officials falsely accused him of violating state laws, and even had two female city workers file fake sexual harassment allegations against him.

Meanwhile, Fruitland Park residents are encouraged to meet the finalists for the city manager position at a reception tomorrow.

City commissioners will interview the five finalists after the reception.

They are expected to make a final decision at their meeting on Oct. 17.
