Fruitland Park suspended city manager resigns amid rape allegations

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. — Fruitland Park's suspended city manager Ralph Bowers resigned on Friday.

Officials said Bowers accepted the city commissioners offer to be paid for 160 hours of unused vacation time, which is less than the 260 hours he asked for.

In November, Bowers was accused of raping a female city employee who he had a relationship with for two years.

Earlier this week, the State Attorney's Office announced there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute him.
