George Zimmerman may be working to bond out of jail again

SANFORD, Fla. — George Zimmerman is working to bond out of jail again, WFTV learned on Thursday.

Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin who was visiting father in a Sanford community.

The judge revoked Zimmerman's bond and arrested his wife, Shellie Zimmerman, for allegedly lying about how much money they had.

The defense said it plans to call at least two witnesses at George Zimmerman's bond hearing later this month.

The witnesses are bond agents from Magic Bail Bonds, which posted Zimmerman's 150,000 bond the first time.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Shaeffer said that indicates to him that the defense is gearing up for a battle.

"Clearly, Mr. O'Mara wants to show that Zimmerman has abided by all conditions of release while he was on bond and that the bondsman is secure in writing yet another bond," Sheaffer said.

Zimmerman's lawyer, Mark O'Mara, told the judge at the first bond hearing that it was crucial to his defense that Zimmerman bond out of jail.

He's back behind bars after the judge revoked his bond, ruling that Shellie Zimmerman misled the court about the family's financial situation. She claimed that they had no money when actually they had more than 100,000 in donations from Zimmerman's Pay Pal defense fund.

Shellie Zimmerman is charged with perjury, and bonded out of jail shortly after her arrest.

At the first bond hearing, prosecutors asked for $1 million bail amount, without presenting witnesses or evidence.

Both Zimmerman and his wife had problems with past due credit card debt several years ago.

WFTV went to Shellie Zimmerman's parents' house to talk to her, but neighbors said the family packed up a moving van days ago and left.
