Good Samaritans try to help small, injured gator near school

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Good Samaritans tried to help a small alligator that made its way near the grounds of Hunter's Creek Middle School Sunday.

Orange County deputies were called to the school. They said the gator was not aggressive, and it appeared to have been run over by a car and was severely injured.

Witness, Carlos Albizu, helped pull the gator to safety.

"It must have been hit by a car. The jaw was like smashed and it wasn't opening. And, it wasn't showing any aggression, and it was too hurt to do anything," Albizu said.

Because it was badly injured, deputies said they had to put the gator down at the scene.
