Here are 9 things to know about the 94th annual Academy Awards, airing Sunday on Channel 9

, Fla. — The glitziest, most glamorous night in Hollywood is almost here.

The Oscars return Sunday night at 8 p.m. on WFTV Channel 9, with red-carpet coverage before.

This year promises to be a star-studded event with plenty of surprises. Before you fill out your nominee ballots and grab your popcorn, here are 9 things to know about this year’s Academy Awards.

1. ”The Power of the Dog” leads the pack of nominees with 12 nominations, including best picture.

2. Netflix received the most nominees of any studio this year with 27. Among those are best picture nods for “The Power of the Dog” and “Don’t Look Up.” Disney and Fox came in second with 23 nominations.

3. The foreign film “Drive My Car” had the least expensive budget of all 10 best picture nominees, at $5 million. Coincidentally, it’s also the best-reviewed of all the best picture nominees on Rotten Tomatoes.

4. This year’s ceremony will cost just under $43 million.

5. The Oscars will be hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes. It’s also the first time in four years the Oscar telecast will have a host.

6. Of this year’s Oscar nominees, 28% are women, the lowest percentage in three years.

7. Nine of this year’s acting nominees are nominated for the first time.

8. “CODA” marks the first best picture nomination for Apple TV+.

9. With “West Side Story,” 11 films produced by Steven Spielberg have been nominated for best picture, a new record for the Oscars and making him the first director to receive nominations across six different decades.
