Inmate who escaped from Miss. captured in Ocala

OCALA, Fla. — An inmate who escaped from a Mississippi state work camp was arrested in Ocala, Florida Highway Patrol officials said. They also arrested the woman they said helped him flee.

Trooper Shane Crawford stopped to help what he thought was a disabled vehicle in Marion County on Saturday. He ran a computer check on the car's tags and found the vehicle had been stolen from Mississippi.

Authorities said the suspect gave a fake name and birth date. But after speaking with the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the trooper identified the man as Gary Sneed, 32.

Authorities said Holly Morrison stole a car to help Sneed escape.

The couple had numerous warrants out for the escape, including manufacturing of methamphetamine and grand theft auto charges.
