KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Investigators said the 15-year-old boy remains hospitalized and has not woken up.

The teen did not have identification on him, but his uncle later came forward to identify him, police said. He was staying with his uncle while his parents were out of town, police said.

The boy's bike was found in the street and his backpack on the side of the road after the crash.

Police said the gray SUV had damage to its front bumper and the windshield was smashed.

"We do have some people at the hospital just trying to stay with the individual that was hit on the bicycle and hopefully be able to speak to that person," said Officer Jack Flanery, with the Kissimmee Police Department.

The boy was flown by helicopter to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, and at last report, was suffering serious injuries.

Fortune Road was closed for about three hours as investigators tried to piece together what happened.

Police said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene.
