Woman arrested in fatal Orlando hit-and-run bonds out

ORLANDO, Fla. — A woman who police said fatally hit a pedestrian with her car and left the scene bonded out of jail Monday night.

The incident happened on Kirkman and Conroy roads, just after 10 p.m. Sunday, according to investigators.

Rose Darlaine Pierre's car was found in a nearby apartment complex, police said.

A security guard at Pierre's apartment complex said he found her car with damage that matched the evidence from the scene.

"The sooner we can get the vehicle and recover any physical evidence, the better for the investigation," said Master Sgt. Roger Brennan of the Orlando Police Department.

Pierre, 24, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and attempted destruction of physical evidence, police said.

Some of Pierre's neighbors spoke with Channel 9's Tim Barber.

"I hope justice is done. I mean nothing can really be done to account that someone lost their life but I hope that our legal system can take care of that and she is punished accordingly," said neighbor Ore Ajose.

Barber found more than a dozen traffic citations issued to Pierre.

Additional charges are possible, pending the outcome of a DUI investigation.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Pierre bonded out of jail Monday night.
