Kissimmee man killed in wreck on I-4

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A Kissimmee man was killed in a crash on I-4 in Polk County that sent five people to the hospital Saturday.

Deputies said about 7:30 p.m. Michelle Walsh, 27, was heading westbound in the interstate at U.S. 27 in Davenpoert when she lost control of her Ford Expedition.

Reports said the SUV slid into the outside lane of the off-ramp, narrowly missed striking a truck that was stopped on the off-ramp, and then flipped.

Lascelles Gabbidon II, of Kissimmee, was ejected from the front-passenger seat.

He was rushed to Heart of Florida hospital, where he later died.

Five other people, mostly children, were taken to area hospitals but were treated and released.

Deputies said Walsh was wearing her seat belt, however, it does not appear that any of the other occupants in the car were wearing theirs.

Officials believe wet road conditions and speed may have been a factor, as well as bald tires on the SUV.

The crash remains under investigation.
