Lake County BBQ restaurant shuts down after 70 years over coronavirus impact

After 70 years of serving up meals in south Lake County, Jack’s BBQ restaurant is closing its doors for the last time on Sunday, because of COVID-19.

With such a long history, once word spread about the closure, the place has been packed.

For 70 years, people have been showing up to Jack’s BBQ in Minneola.

The food and signature sauces are legendary, explained locals who said they had been coming to the restaurant for years.

The restaurant owner said has dealt a number of challenges over the years, but none of them as devastating as COVID-19.

Jack’s BBQ was shut down for more than two months because of the outbreak, and reopened when the owner learned employees were hurting.

The owners said they have been trying to sell the business but so far they haven’t received much interest.
