Leesburg doctor accused of battering patient he believed was faking condition

LEESBURG, Fla. — Officers said they arrested a Leesburg doctor on Wednesday who is accused of battering a patient he believed was faking her condition.

Leesburg police said Dr. Onyekachi Nwabuko, 44, is accused of using the patient’s own hand to hit her in the face numerous times on three separate occasions at UF Health Leesburg.

Officers said Nwabuko believed the woman, who was semi-conscious, was faking her condition.

According to an arrest affidavit, witnesses told deputies the woman involved tried to resist Nwabuko’s actions, which only made him strike her harder.
