Maitland gym adjusts operations to keep business during pandemic

MAITLAND, Fla. — Virtual classes, a virtual happy hour and letting people pay what they could. Those are some of the changes a local gym made to adjust for the pandemic.

Anthony Conti is the owner of Eat The Frog Fitness in Maitland, a relatively new business that opened in December. He said it’s been a stressful adjustment, but the support of his members has kept their business running.

“Coronavirus

The name of the business comes from the saying, “Eat a frog first thing in the morning, and you won’t face anything worse the rest of the day." Versions of the quote are all over the internet, and it’s also the philosophy behind the businesses, encouraging people to embrace their fitness challenge.

The gym is once again open and operating at 50 percent capacity per state guidelines. Conti says it’s almost like they’ve had to start over and find new ways to attract business while making sure the facility is clean enough that people feel confident working out there.
