Standoff over after man barricades self in Melbourne home with baby inside

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Brevard County deputies were involved in a standoff at a Melbourne home on Anchorage Lane.

The SWAT team was called to the scene after a woman called 911 saying her boyfriend beat her up.

The woman said she ran out of the home, leaving an 8-month-old baby inside.

Authorities said the man then barricaded himself inside the mobile home.

At about 6:20 a.m., authorities were able to enter the home and remove the man. The baby is safe  and no one was injured.

Authorities said the man made threats to law enforcement.

"Safety comes first, and you should really consider yourself and your family's lives. These are modular homes and the possibility of any cross fire or anything like that is probable, so, it's best to be safe and get out of your home if you're nearby," said Maria Fernez of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The names of those involved were not released.
