Man dragged by car in Brevard County airlifted to hospital with serious head injury, witnesses say

A man was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to the hospital Thursday after being dragged by a speeding car in Brevard County, witnesses said.
The incident happened on Slayton Avenue near Fiske Boulevard in Rockledge and involved a gold car that neighbors called suspicious.
Matt Vansyckle told Channel 9 that the car pulled in and out of his driveway several times before the incident.
The victim, who was not identified, had been talking to someone inside the car when it sped away, Vansyckle said.
“All of a sudden, we look back over and we see a kid hanging on the back of the car and they’re just flying down the block,” Vansyckle said.
Another witness, Logan Hansen, said he saw the victim leaning through the car’s window as it sped away.
“We look out the window and saw the car just flying by,” Hansen said. “And that kid that was talking, he’s, like, halfway in the window, kind of hanging onto the car.”
The victim ultimately fell off the car as it sped away and was seriously injured, witnesses said.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, but released little information Thursday night.
It appears the victim may have jumped on the car as it sped off, investigators said.
He was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center and was expected to survive, deputies said.
