Man pistol-whipped while walking through UCF parking lot

ORLANDO, Fla. — A man was pistol-whipped while walking through the parking lot at the University of Central Florida Water Tower at Gemini Boulevard and Libra Drive early Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

Investigators said the man was approached by four people who ran off with his cellphone and car keys after the attack.

The man flagged down a passerby, who then called the UCF Police Department.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital.

According to a report, the victim described the men as one Hispanic man and three black men, wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandannas.

UCF officials said the victim was treated and released from the hospital, and said they were increasing patrols, including some added patrols on bicycles and ATVs.
