Man shot, killed at downtown Orlando apartment complex, police say

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed Friday morning in an Orlando apartment, police said.
The shooting happened at about 1:30 a.m. on the third floor of the Crescent Central station apartment building on North Orange Avenue, police said.
“It is concerning, and moving forward, you have to think about whether you want to be here or not,” resident Brandon Scales said. "It's concerning because I haven't heard anything from management itself -- no emails, no anything.”
The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Residents were ordered back into their apartments while police searched for a gunman.
"We just heard blood-curdling screaming. She's yelling for help," resident Taylor Sambola said.
Resident Cristian Michaels said in a Facebook post that he ran down a hallway, where he discovered the victim "bleeding out from a gunshot wound."
He said he and another man performed CPR on the victim and "switched off giving compressions."
"OPD (was) with assault rifles drawn and laser sights on us," Michaels said. "We didn't realize we walked into an active shooter situation."
"You see the police and the amount of them, you're, like, honestly what's going on here, because it's rare in this situation to see anything like that," resident Tonoi Gordon said.
Residents said the gunman was in an apartment with an assault-style rifle, threatening to kill himself.
Several witnesses, including a possible shooting suspect were detained and are being questioned, police said.
Police said they do not believe it was a random shooting and that they are not searching for any additional suspects.
Neither the names nor the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
