CITRA, Fla. — A sinkhole has formed Tuesday morning on a Citra road, Marion County deputies said.
Deputies posted to Facebook that the sinkhole opened up in the eastbound lane at the 300th block of East Highway 318.
The sinkhole is about 9 feet across and about 5 feet deep, deputies said.
Engineers with Marion County have closed the road to begin repairs.
A timeline has not been announced for when the road will reopen.
Deputies said Highway 318 has been closed between Highway 301 and Highway 441, except for local traffic. All other traffic is currently being detoured to 165th Street between 441 and 301.
