Marion County firefighters battle large brush fire

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Marion County firefighters are still battling a brush fire spanning more than 700 acres in the Fort McCoy area.

The fire started Friday evening and continued into Saturday.

Some residents were evacuated from their homes.

The flames were 60 percent contained by Saturday night.

The Florida Forest Service said there are no road closures.

Firefighters report one shed and three hunting cabins were destroyed in the blaze.
