Marion County Sheriff's Office to hold event for public to claim stolen items

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Marion County Sheriff's Office is holding an event where stolen items will be put on display in hopes of finding their rightful owners.

The event will be held during the afternoon on June 2 at the Sheriff's Office headquarters.

According to deputies, more than 200 stolen items, mostly from home and car burglaries, will be on display. Almost all of the property was recovered in crimes that happened during the last 12 months.

Residents will need to have some proof of ownership if they want to claim an item. Deputies said residents should try to bring paperwork, photos, receipts and serial numbers for proof.

Some of the items on display will include cameras, figurines, lawn equipment, tools and electronics.
