1 dead following Marion County house fire, officials say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — One person is dead and a Marion County Fire Rescue firefighter is injured following a house fire in Citra Monday morning.

It happened around 11 a.m. after fire officials received a call about a structure fire with a person inside in the 14000 block of North Magnolia Avenue.

While battling the flames, a fire captain came in contact with live power lines and was knocked to the ground.

After making entry into the home, fire officials found that a person inside died.

The fire was under control by 11:34 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The injured fire captain was transported to the hospital in good condition.
