2 people killed in head-on collision, troopers say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — An investigation is underway after two drivers were killed in a head-on crash in Marion County on Saturday night.

The crash happened near the intersection of U.S. 27 and Northwest 82nd Street Road at 6:41 p.m., troopers said.


According to troopers, a 54-year-old man was driving north on U.S. 27 in the southbound lane when he crashed head-on into a 22-year-old woman driving southbound in the same lane.

Both drivers sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, according to a news release.

A third car was hit by debris from the original crash bur no one in the third car was injured.

This crash remains under investigation.
