Pedestrian hit and killed crossing intersection in Marion County, troopers say

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed in Marion County.

The deadly crash happened near the intersection of State Road 200 and Southwest 60th Street around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday.

Troopers said a pickup truck was traveling westbound on S.R. 200 when a woman was attempting to cross in a dark area at the intersection of SW 60th Street.

The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian, striking her with the front of the truck.

Marion County Fire Rescue pronounced the 60-year-old Ocala woman dead at the scene.

Troopers have not said if charges will be filed.
