Mayor, city commission seats up for grabs in Apopka municipal elections

APOPKA, Fla. — Voters will head to the polls in the City of Apopka Tuesday.

Among the open seats are mayor and three commission seats.

Incumbent Mayor Bryan Nelson will face off against former commissioner Kyle Becker.

Erick Mock and Nick Nesta are vying to replace Becker, who resigned his Commissioner — Seat 4 seat to run for mayor.

In the Seat 2 commissioner race, Wes Dumey is running against incumbent Diane Velazquez.

Alexander Smith was unopposed in his race for Seat 1.

If necessary, a run-off election will be held April 12.

Once elected, officials will serve four-year terms which will begin at 12:01 p.m. on April 26.
