• Police: Man killed in shooting at Melbourne nightclub


    MELBOURNE, Fla. - Police are investigating after a 40-year-old man was killed in a shooting at a nightclub in Melbourne early Saturday morning.

    The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. outside of the Hangover Lounge on Washburn Road in Melbourne, police said.

    Police said 911 was called when a fight broke out inside the nightclub and eventually moved outside to the parking lot.

    During the fight, someone pulled out a gun and shot a 40-year-old man, who was later identified as Jean Francois of Palm Bay, according to investigators.

    Francois tried to run from the scene after being shot, but collapsed in a nearby parking lot, police said.

    Investigators are interviewing witnesses and asks that anyone with information about the shooting contact Melbourne police.
