MLK celebrations happening across Central Florida this weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Jan. 20, and this weekend there will be parades and celebrations happening all across Central Florida.

Orange County events:

In downtown Orlando, a parade will be held Saturday. This year’s parade theme is “King 2020, The Beloved Community: The Fierce Urgency of Now.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on N Orange Avenue at W Livingston Street.

The route will continue to Central Boulevard to Rosalind Avenue and ends at E Livingston Street.

The town of Eatonville is holding a parade celebration at 100 E Kennedy Blvd at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The 2020 celebration theme is “Unity in the Community.” This event will have food, music, and entertainment from dance and step teams.

The event is free.

Osceola County events:

The city of Kissimmee is hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. unity celebration Saturday to celebrate his life and legacy.

This year, the event will begin at 10 a.m. with a parade through downtown Kissimmee.

The parade will be followed by the unity celebration festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kissimmee Lakefront Park.
