Mother of three injured in drive-by shooting in Pine Hills, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A drive-by shooting sent a mother of three to the hospital in critical condition Tuesday.

Investigators said bullets shot through the wall of Elouise Mcanuff's home near Mercy Drive and Silver Star Road and hit her while she was sleeping.

Detectives have not found the gunman.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home on Carousel Road about 2 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

Deputies found the 45-year-old mother had been shot. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, investigators said.

Her three teenage sons were inside sleeping when they heard the rapid gunfire.

Neighbors described hearing a barrage of gunfire, then a pause followed by more gunfire.

“Well, I thank God for keeping us through the ordeal. But God is in control of everything,” said resident Diane Cooper.

The home was covered with at least 14 bullet holes and investigators collected multiple shell casings from the scene.

"I heard a lot of gunfire. I heard shooting and as the shooting started, I began to pray," Cooper said.

Several neighbors said there was a shooting at the home a few years ago.

Property records show the home was sold to Mcanuff as a Habitat for Humanity home in 2013. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization that helps those in need find nice, affordable housing.

Investigators said they believe this is an isolated incident. However they're still asking people to call Crimeline at 800-423-8477 if they have any information about the shooting.
