Orlando motorcyclist killed in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — As the Biktoberfest festivities continue in Daytona Beach, the police department said it's investigating a crash that left a motorcyclist dead.

The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. Friday on N. Charles Street, officials said.

The motorcyclist, 33-year-old Cory Powell of Orlando, was riding his 2006 Suzuki northbound when he hit a curb and then a fence, according to police. Powell was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said speed doesn't appear to be a factor and they're investigating the cause of the crash.
