New hotel, mall may be coming to I-Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. — International Drive could soon be home to a new 31-story mall and hotel.

The complex that would hold more than 1,200 hotel rooms, would include 160,000 square feet of retail space, and have a rotating restaurant and observation deck.

Officials want to tear down the International Shoppes strip mall on International Drive and Kirkman Road to make room for the proposed plaza.

The proposal is expected to go before the Orlando's Municipal Planning Board next month.
