No fatalities along I-75 during safety campaign

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says there were no fatalities on Interstate 75 during its participation in a safety campaign called "Staying Alive on 75."

The promotion took place last weekend in Florida and six other states along the I-75 corridor.

FHP Director Col. David Brierton says the effort is to promote safe driving.

Several more "Staying Alive" campaigns are scheduled during the next few months. This is part of a national effort by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to cut down on traffic fatalities in the United States by 15 percent this year.

Troopers urge motorists to buckle up, obey speed limits, drive sober and alert and eliminate driver distractions.
