ORLANDO, Fla. — The Florida Health Department said it won’t be releasing new COVID-19 case numbers on New Year’s Day.
“In recognition of the New Years holiday, the Department will not be issuing COVID-19 reports today. Reports will resume tomorrow, January 2,” the department said in a tweet.

The news comes the day after the state hit its highest ever single-day case increase, adding more than 17,100 new cases on Thursday.
The health department has previously withheld case numbers on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, which led to large two-day case numbers reported on the day after each holiday.
