Woman arrested on DUI accused of causing Ocoee crash

OCOEE, Fla. — An Ocoee woman with a long history of drunk driving convictions and other traffic infractions is back behind bars, accused of slamming into a family of four while driving drunk.

Andrea Cheek doesn't have a license and is accused of driving drunk again, causing a crash and leaving the scene of that crash.

Cheek is trying to get her bail reduced to get out of jail.

In the most recent case, police said she was drunk when she suddenly slammed into the family as it was stopped at a light waiting to turn left onto State Road 429.

Cheek's neighbors are not surprised she's back behind bars.

"She's been in and out of jail before and she's still driving and drinking," neighbor Kelsey Hey said.

Cheek has had her share of trouble with three drunk driving convictions and other traffic infractions.

Police said Cheek had an open bottle of wine in the car when she struck the family on Colonial Drive.

Records show she's had 17 citations and 10 arrests, everything from DUI, to leaving the scene of an accident and even battery.

Cheek was driving on a revoked license, which she's been convicted of before.

Neighbor Kim Hey says there are a lot of children on the street and she doesn't even let her kids play anywhere near the street.

Cheek's drunk driving record is always on her mind.

"She needs a lot of help. She needs to be put away," Kim Hey said.

WFTV's legal analyst said that could happen, because a fourth DUI arrest is a felony.

While Cheek's past punishments may have been geared more toward rehab, if convicted this time, she faces up to five years in prison.

In the meantime, neighbors are hoping her bail amount isn't reduced.

"She'll keep driving," Kim Hey said.

Cheek declined a request for an interview.
