OCPS hopes for steady traffic at transportation job fair Monday

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — School district officials hope to steer qualified candidates toward a number of job vacancies in Orange County.

OCPS will be looking to hire school bus drivers and mechanics at a job fair on Monday, Feb. 21.

It’s one of three hiring events Orange County Public Schools has organized in the coming weeks.

For months, Eyewitness News has been following Central Florida’s shortage of school bus drivers.

OCPS said it will aim to entice prospective employees with a $1,000 signing bonus, on top of hourly wages ranging from $13.24 to $15.89.

Organizers said they’ll hold on-the-spot interviews for those who attend upcoming job fairs.

Monday’s event details are as follows:

  • Time: 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Location: Eric Olson Compound, 2900 Bear Bryant Dr., Orlando, FL 32809

  • Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Location: Lake Nona Compound

March 21, 2022

  • Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
