Officers search for armed robber of Casselberry-area convenience stores

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Detectives are trying to solve two convenience store robberies that happened just six miles apart in Casselberry and Winter Park.

The robberies happened before midnight Sunday, and in both cases, the gunman is described as a white man.

The robber was captured on surveillance cameras at the Hess gas station on US-1792 and Griffin Drive in Casselberry and a Circle K on Aloma Avenue and State Road 436.

Authorities said a white man wearing a white long-sleeved dress shirt with blue stripes, tan khaki shorts, a 59/50 brand baseball cap with a blue bandanna covering his face entered the Circle K, brandished a firearm and demanded money. The employees complied and the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The videos from the robberies are being withheld from the public as detectives examine it.

The clerk can be seen in surveillance video with her hands in the air, said authorities. There were no customers in the store at the time.

Even though there have been about a dozen robberies in central Florida in recent weeks, authorities said they do not believe Monday's robberies were related to the past ones in the area.

There were no injuries reported at either of the armed robberies and it's unclear right now how the man made his getaway.
