SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Seminole County jury heard testimony Tuesday in the trial against a man accused of killing three family members over a dispute involving his relationship with a Bulgarian call girl.
The final jury was seated in the case against Grant Amato Tuesday morning.
Prosecutors said Amato fatally shot his parents and his brother during a fight over $200,000 he sent a Bulgarian call girl.
Amato stayed at their home with the three bodies for hours, prosecutors said.
A crime scene analyst spent hours testifying about evidence collected from the crime scene.
Jurors were shown gruesome photos of the bodies of Margaret Amato, Chad Amato and Cody Amato.
Prosecutos said Grant Amato fatally shot them and tried to make it look like a murder-suicide.
Grant Amato broke down in tears and, at times, appeared attentive, even taking notes as witnesses took the stand to describe the morning of Jan. 25.
Christopher Sisko, a friend and co-worker of Cody Amato, said he noticed something was wrong when he did not show up for work.
"When I tried to call the phone, it rang a couple times and went to voicemail," he said.
Prosecutors said Grant Amato left the home, traveled to a Publix parking lot, logged onto the store's Wi-Fi and used his slain brother's USAA checking account to pay almost $600 to access the call girl's website at 3 a.m.
Grant Amato's attorney said there is no physical evidence that shows he pulled the trigger.
