ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies said they're investigating a homicide after a man was found dead near his car in an Orange County apartment complex Sunday morning.
The body was found around 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Forest Hills apartment complex off of Forest City Road.
According to investigators, the body is that of 35-year-old Julio Velez. Velez was found near his gray Chevrolet Impala.
Velez was killed sometime between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., and he is not a resident of the apartment complex, sheriff's office officials said.
"It's scary to live in a place that criminality is high," said resident Madeleine Lallave. "Around here is a place that's not secure. It's happened in other complexes but not really in this one."
