Orange County man accused of killing father-in-law

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is facing first-degree murder charges after deputies said he shot and killed his father-in-law.

Orange County deputies were called to an apartment on Grand Point Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, in reference to a man possibly dead inside an apartment.

The victim, Steven Martinez, 51, was found shot to death.

Martinez’s son-in-law, William Tarlbert, told deputies he had fought with Martinez earlier in the day, and went to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

Meanwhile, deputies said the victim’s daughter told them that she was home at the time of the altercation between the pair, heard gunshots, and left the apartment.

The daughter said the physical fight happened around 10:30 a.m.

Tarlbert was charged with first-degree murder.
