ORLANDO, Fla. — Nearly 1,000 people attended a 5K Run/Walk at the University of Central Florida and helped raised more than $120,000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
PurpleStride Central Florida is a day of hope and inspiration for those who have been diagnosed with the pancreatic cancer, as well as a tribute to those who have passed away from the disease.
The money raised helps fund support for patients and their families as well supporting research.

The event was emceed by WFTV’s own Brian Shields and presented by Cydney Daly, daughter of NBA Hall of Famer and former Orlando Magic coach Chuck Daly.
Pancreatic cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
Over the past decade, PurpleStride Central Florida has raised more than $1 million.
