2 die in SR 417 crash that threw 6 people from SUV, including 3 children

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two people died in a crash Saturday afternoon on State Road 417 at Lee Vista Boulevard in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said a 2004 GMC SUV was northbound at noon when it left the roadway for an unknown reason, striking a pole and flipping over.

They said the six people in the SUV, including three children under the age of 6, were thrown from the vehicle.

A 43-year-old Jacksonville man and a 57-year-old Jacksonville woman died in the crash.

No one was wearing a seat belt, and there were no child restraints in the vehicle, officials said.

Troopers said one child was in critical condition and the two others were in stable condition at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

The crash remains under investigation.
