ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Recruitment agencies are figuring out new ways to help the unemployed while staying safe.
“Well, I’d been with KFC for over a year, as assistant general manager, I was enjoying and loving it,” said CareerSource client Walter Tyler.
But in March, Tyler said he went on a cruise, came back and quarantined. And when he returned to work, he was laid off.
“I pretty much lost all hope and everything because no jobs was hiring,” Tyler said.
After months without any luck, he heard about CareerSource.
“This is our brand-new flagship location,” said CareerSource spokesperson Lisa Burby.
It hopes the high-visibility location inside the West Oaks Mall will help more residents in Orange County.
“We’re really here to be able to give people different options in a career,” Burby said.
She said there are some jobs across Central Florida, just not in the industries that have collapsed during the pandemic.
“We have more than 20 businesses that are hiring and more than 118 jobs that are available,” Burby said.
And CareerSource is not just focusing on the core six growth industries anymore. In fact, it is getting creative.
