Happening today: Woman accused of leaving 4-year-old boy in hot car to die to be sentenced

ORLANDO, Fla. — The state is set to ask a judge to proceed with the sentencing for an Orlando woman accused of leaving a 4-year-old boy to die in a hot car.

Investigators said Mariah Butler left her boyfriend’s son, Logan Starling, in a hot SUV in the parking lot of the Elite Preparatory Academy in October 2018.

Last year, prosecutors and the Butler’s attorney agreed to a plea deal, which would have meant probation only.

A judge accepted it at first, but then rejected it.
