Law enforcement officers crack down on drivers who fail to stop for people using crosswalks

With children getting ready to go back to class, law enforcement officers want people to realize the risks they face when they don’t stop for people using crosswalks.

The Best Foot Forward crosswalk enforcement operation will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:15 a.m. to noon at 15 heavily traveled crosswalk locations near schools.

A video from a past Best Foot Forward event shows where an Osceola County deputy was nearly hit while trying to cross the road. The deputy had to jump back out of the street to avoid a car.

If you’re caught doing something similar, you will get a $164 ticket and up to three points on your license.
